Bear Hill Ranch · Bar BH · Bighorn County, Alberta
Pasture-raised, hormone-free beef from our family's ranch to your family's freezer. Quarter, half and whole beef, cut exactly the way you want it.
Why Bedry Beef
Most beef travels a long, anonymous road to the grocery store. Ours doesn't. The beef we sell comes from animals raised right here, looked after by our own family every day of their lives.
Our cattle spend their lives out on grass in the foothills, moving through native pasture the way cattle are meant to, then finish on grain for marbling and flavour.
No added hormones and no antibiotics. Just good grass, good water, and careful stockmanship. Nothing you wouldn't want to feed your own kids.
You choose your steak thickness, roast sizes, and how much ground beef you want. Your order is custom cut and wrapped at a provincially inspected facility.
Our Family, Our Ranch
We're a working cattle family in Bighorn County, out in the West Jumping Pound country west of Calgary. We're one of the smaller outfits running cattle in this stretch of country between Cochrane and Canmore. We calve in the spring, move cattle through summer grass, and feed through the winter, the same rhythm ranchers here have kept for generations.
When you buy a quarter of beef from us, you're not buying from a brand. You're buying from the people who tagged that calf, checked it in a blizzard, and hauled it to the butcher themselves.
Come see the place if you're ever passing through. We mean that.
Meet The RanchBuy In Bulk, Eat All Year
Buying a bulk beef package is the most affordable way to eat high-quality beef, and it fills your freezer for months. Here's roughly what each one gives you.
Roughly 110-140 lbs of finished, wrapped beef. Fits in about 4 cubic feet of freezer space, roughly a large chest freezer drawer.
Roughly 220-280 lbs of finished, wrapped beef. Plan on about 8 cubic feet of freezer space.
Roughly 440-560 lbs of finished, wrapped beef. You'll want a dedicated deep freeze, around 16 cubic feet.
Not sure which size to pick? Give us a call and we'll talk it through: freezer space, how much your household eats, and what makes sense for you. There's no pressure and no obligation.
Simple & Straightforward
Fill in the order form on this site, or just phone us. Tell us what size package you're after and roughly when you'd like it.
We'll get back to you with current pricing, available dates, and a deposit to hold your animal. We only sell what we raise, so spots are limited.
Before butcher day we'll walk you through the cut sheet: steak thickness, roast sizes, how much ground. First time? We'll help you pick.
Your beef is cut, wrapped, labelled and frozen, and it's boxed up ready to travel. We'll let you know when and where to pick it up.
Life On The Bar BH
West Jumping Pound · Bighorn County, Alberta
We're in Bighorn County, out in the West Jumping Pound foothills. This is still real ranching country, a stretch of the Bow Valley where working ranches run cattle alongside each other. We're one of them. If you live out this way, your beef didn't travel far to reach you.
Under an hour east of us. Plenty of Calgary families fill their freezers with Bedry Beef every year.
Practically neighbours. If you're in Cochrane or the surrounding country, you're close enough to come see the place.
Bow Valley folks often have to look a long way for genuinely local beef. You don't. We're just down the valley.
Springbank, Bragg Creek, Redwood Meadows and the foothills communities in between.
Not from around here? That's fine too. Get in touch and we'll work out pick-up arrangements that suit you.
We raise a limited number of animals each year, and they sell out. Get in touch and we'll hold one for you.
